The Design Process & Time Scales

Single-storey extensions are much quicker and easier to complete especially if it falls within permitted development. You can also extend further than ever before for a limited time only.

If you are looking to extend your home under Permitted Development then you can still benefit from a much faster process.

In some areas you may require Planning Permission if extending beyond the rear wall of the house by more than 3 meters on a terraced or semi-detached property, or 4 meters in a detached property. Planning Permission can take up to 10 weeks got approval. This process can also sometimes require additional information to be obtained re: Arboricultural Reports etc.

Regardless of whether your project has Permitted Development Rights you will always be required to complete a Building Control Application and obtain approval for these works. This process will normally always involve a Structural Engineer, we can assist with all of your necessary third parties and offer everything within a fixed fee pricing structure.

On submission for building control approval can take anywhere between 4 to 12 weeks to complete. Dependant on the Building Control Team the work can sometimes be started alongside the application but permission should be sought prior to starting on site.
